It all began in 1991, when Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher began collecting found videotapes after stumbling across a training video entitled, “Inside and Outside Custodial Duties” in a McDonald’s break room. In the 18 years since then, they have compiled an impressive collection of strange, outrageous and profoundly stupid videos found in garage sales and thrift stores, and in warehouses and dumpsters across the country.
In 2005, the two took their collection on the road and now curate their found footage to more than 100 audiences a year in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Pickett and Prueher, whose credits include The Onion and Late Show With David Letterman, recently directed the feature-length documentary, Dirty Country, which won the 24-Beats-Per-Second Audience Award at the 2007 South By Southwest Film Festival.
Joe and Nick painstakingly scout through mountains of found videos, scanning thousands of hours of odd, hilarious, and sometimes unbearably stupid footage. They select only the best of the best for the Found Footage Festival DVD series. Their latest collection, Found Footage Festival: Volume 4 went on sale in December, 2009. DVD run-time is approx. 90 minutes, includes bonus features, and live performances of Joe and Nick presenting their favorites to audiences across the country. In July, 2010, a new Found Footage Festival DVD "Zany" Zingers And Bonked-Out Blunders will be released.
